Common Questions
Wood Fireplace FAQs
Can I use a wood fireplace during load shedding?
Yes. Wood fireplaces work independently of electricity — a reliable, eco-friendly heat source that keeps you warm no matter the power situation.
What's the difference between open and closed combustion?
Open fireplaces let heat and smoke escape. Closed combustion fireplaces are sealed with a glass door — they retain more heat, use less wood, and are far more efficient.
Do you deliver in Gauteng?
Yes. Fireplace Warehouse supplies and delivers wood-burning fireplaces across Gauteng from our Randburg showroom and warehouse.
How much wood does a fireplace use per hour?
On average, a closed combustion fireplace uses 2–3 kg of dry wood per hour. Efficient burning and proper airflow settings help reduce wood consumption significantly.
What wood should I burn?
Use dry, seasoned hardwood like oak, blue gum, or wattle. Avoid wet wood or treated timber as it reduces efficiency and causes creosote buildup in the flue.
How do I choose the right size fireplace?
The ideal size depends on your room's cubic metre volume. Our team calculates the correct kW output based on your space, insulation, and ceiling height — at no obligation.
Can I view fireplaces before buying?
Absolutely. Visit our Randburg showroom at 96 Rabie St, Fontainebleau, to view working displays and speak to our experts. Virtual consultations are also available.
Do you offer installation?
Yes — we supply flue kits, conduct site assessments, and offer full professional installation. Our team manages the entire process from first contact to first flame.
